Thanksgiving is here!

My entire life I looked forward to the day when I finally got to move off to college and be on my own. Do you know what I’m saying now? Only two more days… only two more days! Yep, that’s right! Only two more days until I finally get to go home for Thanksgiving! My current emotions=Anxious & Excited! I was looking through my planner earlier today and realized that it’s been almost two months since I last went home, or saw my family. Me being the mommy’s & daddy’s girl that I am, 2 months is entirely too long! I can’t wait to be home and get to spend lots of time with all of my friends and family.

Since this is my first post, I guess I should start by telling you a little bit about myself. As you might know, my name is Macy Eaves and I am currently a sophomore Agriculture Leadership & Development major from Stephenville, TX. Here at Texas A&M University, I am a member of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences Student Council (COALS Council), an Aggie Rep for the Department of Agriculture Leadership, Education, & Communication (ALEC), and also a member of the Saddle & Sirloin Club. I was previously involved in the Memorial Student Center Aggie Leaders of Tomorrow (MSC ALOT), served as a 2009 Muster Host, as well as a 2008-2009 Texas FFA State Vice-President. All of these experiences within my college career have helped me in a number of ways, all while allowing my Aggie experience thus far to be a great one.

Looking forward in my planner to the next couple of weeks also provide me with a multitude of emotions. I am definitely excited the semester is drawing to an end, a little nervous for finals, and also a little stressed. Taking 17 hours while working 20 hours per week was probably not the smartest decision I’ve made in my life! :)

This being my first post, I’ll keep it short and simple. I look forward to upcoming posts and I would like to thank you for your time & interest in my college experience. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! BTHO TU!

Be Blessed,

Macy

What table do you sit at?

When I was younger, I used to always want to sit at the adult table on holidays. I would sit there, with the “little kids” and look up at the adults across the room; laughing and enjoying themselves while eating their Thanksgiving stuffing or drinking their Christmas eggnog. To me, the adult table was just out of reach…

With midterms approaching in my junior year of college, it seems that the years have flown by. I seems like just yesterday I was counting down the months before I got my license…graduated…moved away from home. Now look, I’m a junior in college? When did that happen?

I was enjoying the weather yesterday at Wolf Pen Creek while reading Vonnegut and listening to my mp3 player when it suddenly hit me… Read more…

As some of you may know, President Barack Obama will be on campus this week. (More specifically, the 16th). As some of you may also know, this week is “Coming Out Week”, and the Battalion has already made mention of the event.

Seeing as this is my first post for Aggie Blogs, I just wanted to offer a word of friendly Aggie encouragement for the week and sentiments to live by in the future… Read more…

Ben The Aggie Pilot is my knight in shining armor.  Oh, and “shining” actually works as a double entendre, as he sweated profusely throughout the rescue process.  Interested?  Read on.

Internship!!!!

Posted by Albert Rene Espinoza on Jul 2, 2009 in Albert Espinoza, Student Bloggers, Student Life

This past year I completed my sophomore year at Texas A&M as I pursue my degree in Civil Engineering. As the fall semester flew by I began to think to myself that it’s time to go after some work in the field of engineering. I started to ask around about internships by talking to parents, teachers, former engineering students I know, and people through the studen-run American Society of Civil Engineers on campus.

I was eventually tipped off about a small and hard-working civil engineering firm located in downtown  San Antonio. The suggestion came from my dad’s former college roommate and his wife after a Sunday mass at our church. I decided to pursue this by contacting the owners by email and by phone……. Read more…
